Hi,

I'm writting to let you know that I strongly disagree with the position that
the old package maintainer held. Even though Debian prefers shared libraries,
Debian's preference on its internal policy should not block various external
needs from users. I still consider this bug as a valid feature request.

Now that I have taken over the package maintainership (and have it team-
maintained under the Multimedia Team), I will accept patches for adding a
static library but I do not have time to implement it myself. I strongly
recommend having your patch sent to taglib upstream first and give a reference
link in this bug report after that. Any help would be appreciated.
