RFS - reviving the Advene (video annotation) package - migration from CDBS

Hi

Advene[1] is a video annotation software (GPL), based on python, Gtk
and Gstreamer. It was present in older Debian releases [2], but got
removed due to the major migrations (python2->python3, Gtk2->Gtk3,
Gstreamer0.10->Gstreamer1.0) that occurred.

Since the removal, the application has been updated and is now in good
shape to be reintroduced into Debian. The updated Debian package[3] has
been used/tested for at least 2 years (distributed through a private
repository[4]).

I am looking for help/sponsorship from the Multimedia team, to help me
getting the package back in Debian, but also (and probably first) to
help me migrate from CDBS (which is used for the moment) to more up-to-
date packaging. I am ready to do most of the work if needed, but I need
some guidance wrt the current practices of python packages.

Anyone feeling like giving a hand?

Best,
Olivier Aubert
