Bug#959885: inkscape: crashes when called without X server
Package: inkscape
Version: 1.0~rc1-4
Severity: important
Control: affects -1 src:debian-astro
Dear maintainer,
I use inkscape when building the debian-astro package to convert our
logo from svg into several end user formats (pdf, png).
This doesn't work any longer, since inkscape crashes when called without
an X server, even when the gui is not used (and not displayed) at all:
---------------------------------8<----------------------------------------------
$ inkscape --batch-process Debian-Astro-logo.svg --export-filename=Debian-Astro-logo.pdf
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
** (inkscape:1932018): WARNING **: 16:59:25.874: Fonts dir '/usr/share/inkscape/fonts' does not exist and will be ignored.
** (inkscape:1932018): WARNING **: 16:59:25.874: Fonts dir '/home/soo/.config/inkscape/fonts' does not exist and will be ignored.
ConcreteInkscapeApplication<T>::create_window: Should not be called!

When trying with a running X server, the program works, but the X server
does not display anything from inkscape.
This significantly complicates the usability of inkscape for batch
processing.
Best regards
Ole
