After downgrading to 0.27, this was no longer an issue. I can provide strace output if desired. Yes I am aware of this. It happens because the ffmpeg 4.0 ABI is different from the ffmpeg 3.5 ABI mpv 0.28 was originally built with. Rebuilding mpv should fix it (after fixing the ffmpeg issues probably). Jamea
