Hi Tuomas,

the version 5.5 of Ardour in Debian-stable is really old and
known as buggy (although it should start at least).

You should try the actual version 5.12 of ardour in testing,
which will be the last release of the Ardour5-line and works
quite stable in my experience. If you want to stay on
Debian-stable you can use my backports of 5.12 at:

Hope this helps!
