Sorry to take up your time with a bad mirror report.  I tried with the
following /etc/apt/sources.list and it worked fine:
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main

deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main

Thank you.  By changing to ftp.us.debian.org I was able to install
snmpd successfully.  Thank you for the quick turnaround

I'd like to see more from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (I'm
for hire!).  Changing from wisc.edu to debian.org fixed the problem.
