rsync mirrors.kernel.org: rsync error

Ever since kernel.org's Apr 14 2007 maintenance I am unable to get a
complete and timely rsync from mirrors1.kernel.org or mirrors2.kernel.org.

All attempts end with the dreaded rsync error.

rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (6480652 bytes received so far
[generator]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(453
[generator=2.6.9]

I worked with hpa on the issue and he pushed the problem back to me as a
local issue. 

This is fine, I can double check everything, but I wanted to post here to
see if anyone else is using rsync to mirrors.kernel.org and having
problems.
