fbset is working: I may switch resolution to 1280x1024-75 on the
console.
X is working but not visible: I type my login/password on a blank screen
and my gnome-session started over XDMCP.
Switching from vt7 to vt1 works and I may access the console, I may also
switch back to the blank screen of X.
control-alt-backspace kill the X server, as usually.

boot time resolution is
mode "640x480-60"
    # D: 25.172 MHz, H: 31.466 kHz, V: 59.934 Hz
    geometry 640 480 640 480 8
    timings 39726 46 18 31 12 96 2
    rgba 8/0,8/0,8/0,0/0
endmode

if I start X, on 1280x1024-75 or 640x480-60, I get the same result: a
blank screen.

Every time a switch vtN, I get this message from X:
(EE) FBDEV(0): FBIOPAN_DISPLAY: Invalid argument

Bye,
Giuseppe
