I don't know what his kernel provides, but even if you go with Paul's
method I recommend you upgrade to the kernel in sarge because Paul's
is pretty old and I'm sure has known security problems.

Yes, it has the right modules in the package.

No, the kernel has to be /nfsroot - this is what the firmware expects.
I have never tried the restore CD, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to
mount it on /nfsroot for it to work.
