Low level MIPS questions

Over on the kaffe mailing list 
(http://www.kaffe.org/pipermail/kaffe/2003-March/029112.html), we are 
working through some peculiarities of the MIPS platform for the Kaffe VM 
- in particular JIT compilation of Java code.

So...

Are there any MIPS assembly gurus on this list that might be able to 
weigh in and lend a hand?
