1024x768 not supported under X after switching to testing

Hi,

I've got an Indy R5000 with 24-bit Newport graphics. I upgraded from
stable to testing last night, and X will no longer support 1024x768
correctly. When I specify 1024x768:

        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1024x768"
        EndSubSection

It gives me the following error when I start X:

  (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4"
(EE) No OS PCI support available
(EE) NEWPORT(0): Width = 1024 and height = 768 is not supported by by
  this driver

If I change it to the following:

        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1280x1024"
        EndSubSection

X comes up thinking it has a screen of 1280x768, but it actually displays
at 1024x768@60hz:

  (--) NEWPORT(0): Virtual size is 1280x1024 (pitch 1280)
  (**) NEWPORT(0): Default mode "1280x1024": 108.0 MHz, 64.0 kHz, 60.0 Hz
  (II) NEWPORT(0): Modeline "1280x1024" 108.00 1280 1328 1440 1688 1024
  1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync

Until I switched to the testing distribution, XFree86 was able to handle
1024x768 correctly, though only at 8 bits. I have been using debconf to
generate the initial XF86Config-4 file.

Please let me know if there's more information I can provide.
