This is not the full version. The full version looks something like
2.4.19-0.020911.3 (which is 'upsteam version' - 'cvs checkout date'.'debian release'
in case anyone wonders where this comes from).

Which means you're running testing - I thought you only fetched the
kernel from testing. I'm currently running the -4 packages from unstable
without any problems.

The x server startup isn't even half finished. Can you try to stop gdm
and simply type 'XFree86' on the console as root?
