Forget about vanilla mainstream kernels when talking
about Linux/MIPS ;)
The current working 2.2 linux kernel is 2.2.14 from our cvs repository.
You can download it with the commands

cvs -z3 -d :pserver:cvs@linus.linux.sgi.com:/cvs login
(password is cvs)
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:cvs@linus.linux.sgi.com:/cvs co -r linux_2_2 linux

That's the most current 2.2 kernel which is working for MIPS at the moment.
More recent 2.2 kernels seem to crash (according to Ralf).
I also the 2.3.99-pre8 from the cvs works very stable on my Indigo2.

cvs -z3 -d :pserver:cvs@linus.linux.sgi.com:/cvs co linux
for that one.
