Many years ago, a bunch of packages shipped fonts without building them. Now, the infrastructure exists in Debian to build most fonts. There is an effort to convert all those old font packages to ones that actually build the fonts. As such, I can’t imagine any Debian Developer sponsoring an upload to main of a new package that shipped fonts without building them from source. -- Soren Stoutner soren@debian.org
