If you haven’t already done so, I recommend you take a look at some of the resources listed at: https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers/ Do you have a particular package you would like to work on? I recommend that you begin by updating an existing package that you use that isn’t currently being maintained, as that is a lot simpler than packaging something from scratch.
