Any reason for broken pristine-tar information in webfs

Hi,

I've created the webfs Git repository[1] intially via

    gbp import-dscs --debsnap --create-missing-branches --pristine-tar webfs

which usially works.  When building via

    gbp buildpackage --git-pbuilder-options="--source-only-changes"

it turned out that the resulting upstream tarball differs from what I
get via

    apt source webfs

I tried to refresh the pristine-tar information via


    pristine-tar commit PATH_TO_ORIGINAL/webfs_1.21+ds1.orig.tar.gz 

but this fails as well.  Any idea what might went wrong here?
