In a community I'm involved with, some developers decided to create a bash script linter with output compatible to that of the pep8 utility for Python. They originally named the project bash8, but they were soon strongly advised to rename it to something which wouldn't mislead users into thinking it was version 8 of bash, and so it's name was switched to bashate in order to avoid confusion. -- Jeremy Stanley
