Re: finalizing qabc package (Bug#976120)

Dear mentors,

Since my previous email, I reworked QAbc and reset it to version 1.6 that is stable (instead of experimental 2.x), and uses third party executable software already in Debian (abc2midi, abcm2ps, fluidsynth, evince, as defaults) to achieve the desired functionnalities. The executable paths used are configurable so that the user can use other, if any, software to generate midi, postscript, etc...

I am still looking for a mentor interested in the abc musical notation, who could include QAbc into Debian.

To access further information about this package, please visit the
 following URL:

    https://mentors.debian.net/package/qabc/

Or one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qabc/qabc_1.6-1.dsc

Changes for the initial release:

 qabc (1.6-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Initial release. (Closes: #975688)

Best regards,

Dear mentors,

Thanks to the comments from some of you on bug Bug#976120 (RFS: qabc/2.0-1 [ITP]), I finalized at last a neat packaging (i think) of QAbc: minimal GUI for ABC music notation.

I am now looking for a mentor and I would be grateful, if some of you are interested, to let qabc be included into Debian repository.

To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL:

   https://mentors.debian.net/package/qabc/

Alternatively, one can download the latest package with dget using this command:

  dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qabc/qabc_2.0.1-2.dsc

The source contains also a heavy modified code from abcm2ps source code as an embedded library wich won't be merged to upstream abcm2ps for some good reason ( see https://github.com/leesavide/abcm2ps/issues/80 ).

As Paul Wise told me, I will get the embedded "copy" of abcm2ps code to be recorded in the security team's repository if it is included into Debian. I will also try to backport security fixes from abcm2ps to my library code, despite code divergence is growing with time.

Thank you for your support,
  Benoît
