At one point in its history, the binaries it installs were provided with no name prefix. This resulted in, for instance, /usr/games/net, which had a namespace collision with /usr/bin/net from samba-common-bin (even though the files themselves did not conflict, being under different paths). Later, the binaries were all renamed to have a 'sgt-' prefix; that turned /usr/games/net into /usr/games/sgt-net, making it unique. The prefix is short enough that tab-completion is not meaningfully interfered with in practice, at least not in my experience. I think it likely that the near-collision of the name, as well as the namespace claim of various other binaries in the package, is the reason for the addition of that prefix. The transition was a bit jarring on my end, as a user of the programs; it'd have been simpler by far if the prefix had just been there from the outset, as there is the chance to do in this case. > Given all this, I suggest you adopt a universal prefix for all the > games, perhaps "nb-"?
