Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "engauge-digitizer":

 * Package name    : engauge-digitizer
   Version         : 12.1+ds.1-1
   Upstream Author : Mark Mitchell <markummitchell@gmail.com>
 * URL             : https://markummitchell.github.io/engauge-digitizer
 * License         : BSD-2-clause, GPL-2+, permissive, CC0
 * Vcs             : https://github.com/winchen/engauge_debian

It builds those binary packages:

  engauge-digitizer-doc - engauge-digitizer user manual and tutorial
  engauge-digitizer - interactively extracts numbers from bitmap graphs or
maps

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/e/engauge-digitizer/
engauge-digitizer_12.1+ds.1-1.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

 .
   * New upstream release. Closes: #974131

   * Update to dh compat 13
   * Use debhelper-compat virtual package over debian/compat file

Hi Tobias

Thanks for updating engauge-digitizer in Debian. I've uploaded your package.

A couple of things I noticed looking at the package that you may as well fix in
git now so that they are not forgotten the next time.

> Build-Depends: dpkg-dev (>= 1.16.1~), …

Every supported version of Debian has a new-enough dpkg-dev that you can drop
that Build-Dep at this stage.

> Build-Depends: …, debhelper (>= 13), debhelper-compat (= 13), …

Specifying the debhelper-compat virtual package automatically means debhelper
(>= 13) so you should remove the "debhelper (>= 13)" entry as it's not needed.

> Standards-Version: 4.4.0

Current S-V is 4.5.0. I can't see anything of relevance that has changed in
this time, but given you've bumped S-V anyway, it's worth going the whole way.

Lintian additionally has some suggestions that are worth doing, including:

* forwarding the patches upstream
* adding the manual page upstream
* adding "Rules-Requires-Root: no" to debian/control

Neither lintian nor I are sure why there is a manual page digitizer(1)
included in the package. Is that symlink really needed?

Please remember to push this version to git.

regards
Stuart
