Hi Bastian, looks like with the changes fixing the other things, setup.cfg has gotten changed in source dir and so the build tools can't proceed.
Now affecting dpkg-buildpackage, not just pdebuild. The diff reports that the [egg_info] section got removed from setup.cfg.
