Hmmm...

...the Desktop File I can correct using a patch. But if it is many files perhaps a new upstream release is the only answer.

What is your opinion?

I'm afraid that the desktop file got converted to Windows line endings,
which breaks some consumers.

A lot of other files also suffered the same, this is harmless in the source
but might harm other functionality as well.
