I Just run sbuild (as indicated on https://wiki.debian.org/sbuild) from the new version package folder. 

On ~/.sbuldrc I make this change:

$build_arch_all = 1;
$distribution = 'unstable';

And I use lintian:

$run_lintian = 1;
$lintian_opts = ['-i', '-I'];
