I can't read Tamil either, but I did test the input method and can confirm
that Tamil characters were displayed.
If you're interested, you can test the input method by compiling 'awf' [1]
from source (it only takes around 20 seconds, IIRC).
Then just run `awf-gtk2` from the src directory. Choose a text input field
and right-click to change to one of the five Tamil input methods. Press
left and right Shift at the same to change to Tamil input.
