Uploaded to NEW, although it would be better if the short description was
indeed shortened.  What about axing the phrase "cross-platform"?  In a
Debian package, it's an unimportant part.  Might be still worth including in
the long desc (in case someone's looking for a library that works both on
Unix and on Windows), but definitely not the short desc.

Thus, could you please change this in git?  Not important enough to warrant
a RFS round-trip or an upload on its own, though.
