Also fails to build, with a lot of:
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\u8fd9' in position 0: ordinal not in range(128)

This kind of problem is typical for Python 2 -- but, why would you introduce
a new package with python2 bindings when we're actively trying to get rid of
it?
