There is actually a section in dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) about why this is a bad idea (it breaks local builds or anyone else who manually patched your package). Note that 1.95-4.8-2~ sorts before 1.95-4.8-2~deb8+1 anyway so there is no issue with backports here. James
