Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for an upload of "btrfs-progs" to experimental. In Bug#780081 the
package maintainer had planned to do this, and I posted a link to this package to that bug
report over two weeks ago. Given how difficult it is to reach Dimitri J. Ledkov, he must be
very busy, so I'd like to help out!
Package name : btrfs-progs
Version         : 4.4.1-1.1
Section         : admin

It builds those binary packages:

btrfs-progs - Checksumming Copy on Write Filesystem utilities
btrfs-progs-dbg - Checksumming Copy on Write Filesystem utilities (debug)
btrfs-progs-udeb - Checksumming Copy on Write Filesystem utilities (udeb) (udeb)
btrfs-tools - transitional dummy package
btrfs-tools-dbg - transitional dummy package

To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/btrfs-progs

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/b/btrfs-progs/btrfs-progs_4.4.1-1.1.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

  * New upstream release.
  * Rename package to btrfs-progs (Closes: #780081)

Kind Regards,
Nicholas D Steeves

Hi, uploading in deferred/10 in a few minutes.

let me know if I can speed it up, or I have to cancel it

thanks for your contribution to Debian!

Just a comment:
what does the following do?
-if [ -x /usr/sbin/update-initramfs ] && [ -e /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf ]
+hash /usr/sbin/update-initramfs
+if [ -x `hash` ] && [ -e /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf ]

why should it be better?

cheers,

G.

It turns out debian-cd can list both btrfs-tools and btrfs-progs to
handle the transition, however long it takes.

#820479 (debian-cd) is now marked pending, and #820483 (partman-btrfs)
depends on this rename being uploaded to unstable. Because Christian
Perrier tells me staging in experimental isn't feasible, "the
installer and its components doesn't make good use of experimental,"
(#820483, 9 April 2016) I've reuploaded a btrfs-progs package to
debian-mentors that targets unstable instead.

Thanks again!
Nicholas
