I have just changed:

to:
[ -z "$(echo "$stdouterr" | grep -v "^W:")" ] || die_hard_with_a_cleanup "failed to retrieve status information from google : $stdouterr"
( so if stdourerr length is non-zero after all warnings have been removed die..)
Seems to work, and seems more logic.
