And I've just uploaded a new version at the same mentors.d.n location that
removes the autotools-dev dependency; it turns out that Jakub Wilk's explanation
was mostly correct, except that in my case the config.{guess,sub} update is
actually done by debhelper itself, at least debhelper since 9.20160114.

Note that this version currently produces Lintian warnings about the config.guess
and config.sub files; I have not overridden them, since false positives from
Lintian should be fixed, not overridden, and I've filed #820441 about this.
