I forgot to add: in the case you need to make somebody aware of the bug
report you're filing, you should use X-Debbugs-CC (either as a real or
pseudo header). Then debbugs will send the bug report to that address
after having assigned the bug number, and adding the bug address to the
recipients.

And BTW, dunno how, you did mail d-mentors without keeping 816363@b.d.o
in CC, so the bug did not contain your message. I bounced your email,
and "fixed" the recipients.

Usually for a NMU that's ok. Maybe you can consider fixing the most
important errors, but in a NMU you refrain from doing too many changes
(unless ACKed by the maintainer, or in some special situations).

maybe pape is willing to either orphan or anyway givign up on the
maintainship.
since Feb 8th only 3 weeks are passed, in Debian that's not considered
too much to wait, at all. If you look at the email I linked before
you'll noticed he replied after more than that.

If pape gives up the package I'll be only happy to see another package
being updated to the newer standards :)
