Either way is fine; "kernel's stability" maybe a bit anthropomorphic,
but it's really a minor point.[1] But there really isn't any improvement
in going from "Used to test kernel stability" to "It is used to test
[the] kernel's stability"; it's just more verbose.
1: This can be deparsed into the "stability of the kernel"; in this case
the 's makes "kernel" possessive. Some people may argue that this is bad
style, but it's not really worth worrying about, IMO.
