If the source is in the source tree, you may just overwrite the lintian error (please specify which file is the source in the lintian comment then) -- this is IMO the simplest solution.

You can also use the Files-Excluded: field of debian/copyright; see

https://wiki.debian.org/UscanEnhancements

This will force uscan to create a dfsg tarball. You would need to adjust debian/watch and debian/changelog as well.
