create the file debian/source/options with this content[1]:

extend-diff-ignore = "^po/roxterm.pot$"

I did that, but I get this warning:

dpkg-source: warning: --extend-diff-ignore:=(^|/)po/roxterm.pot$ is not a
valid option for Dpkg::Source::Package::V3::Quilt

This seems to work (there are a lot more files that dpkg-source
complains about):

extend-diff-ignore =
"^(po/((.*).mo|roxterm.pot)|(.*).xml|Help/(.*)|roxterm.spec)$"

That still doesn't work for me, I get the same warning as before. If it works for you I'll upload a new version with that and some other changes designed to fix this, but there are still several underlying problems with the build, creating things like .mo files in the top source directory instead of in the build directory, and building in debian/build-gtk* causes the .pot files to show different paths for the source files than if it's run in the default upstream build directory. I think I really need to switch to a different build system to fix this, so that would probably take a few days :-(.
