I believe the idea is that if the package is not (any longer) in
mentors, there is nothing left to sponsor, so the RFS bug is obsolete.
If something new comes along to be sponsored later on, according to my
understanding of the logic, a new RFS bug should be filed.

I could easily be entirely off-base about that, of course, and I agree
that the phrasing in these (semi-automated?) closure messages is kind of
confusing; it took me a few weeks seeing them come through the mentors
list before I figured out what was probably going on.
