There has to be more to the situation than that, though - because I have
libllvm 3.4.2 installed (both amd64 and i386), and just yesterday not
only successfully booted but replaced a hard drive in the RAID array on
which several of my LVM partitions are based.

Do you know under what circumstances libllvm 3.4-2 is known to be a
problem?
