In such a case README.source will not be installed in docs. So then the
reference in upstream changelog should be removed then. The same should
go to the collab-maint/f3.git repo Eriberto has shown as an example of
an unofficial changelog.

Please, see an attachment. This is my suggestion, but feel free to 

make your decision. I think, attached proposal is more "clear".

Ok, so shall I just commit it into the current VCS branch and remove the
tag 20030310-2, or should I amend the entire previous commit and redo it
completely?

Just commit the fix into VCS and remove tag 20030310-2.
