two tarballs is a v3 source format?

There is nothing special about it being a Qt thing.

why is on'ly the kernel component cross platform?
and what do you mean by cross platform?

Who else would use the kernel (other apps)?
is the kernel and the gui released with different schedules or with same
schedule?

What is the compatibility between gui and kernel?

and what things is it?
