When building in my Squeeze laptop (I always do that before trying in
SID), it
told me:

configure: error: Package requirements (pixman-1 >= 0.17.7) were not met:

Requested 'pixman-1 >= 0.17.7' but version of Pixman is 0.16.4

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PIXMAN_CFLAGS
and PIXMAN_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
make: *** [build-stamp] Error 1
dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2

So I am guessing that your build dependencies aren't correct. Please add a
versionned dependency to pixman.
