I am working with this tutorial to understand better the debian packaging process:

it all goes well until I try to "build" the package from source.
I am getting errors regarding SVN and APR (I think they are libraries) needed. I checked with Synaptic Manager and I see the libraries are installed. Do I have to make them available to the application?
