A dpatch patch is just a normal patch file (with a dpatch header,
@DPATCH@ IIRC, so that dpatch knows it is in the right format). If
you're unable to manipulate it by hand, there is a bigger problem here.

The purpose of dpatch-edit-patch is to automate applying the patch
series in the right order, and capturing your changes into a new or
existing patch, to make the process less repetitive and prone to
mistakes. That's all.
