Hi Eduardo,
This is exactly what I meant: if somebody adopts this RFP into an ITP,
he will not have to start from scratch, but he will have to fix some
packaging defects, such as the one you pinpointed.
In the meantime, since the package is not official, there is not much to
do from the point of view of the Debian project.
