Dear mentors,
This package contains a set of cross-platform programs and C++ libraries
which have been developed by some PhD students in the field of robotics
(the package section is "science").
In the package can be found ready-to-use applications that implement
STATE-OF-THE-ART ALGORITHMS in the field, as particle filters (for
localization and for map building), map building using kalman filters,
some sample robotic datasets (files to test the previous algorithms
with), etc.
It also includes modules ("hardware-drivers") which makes very easy to
read from ROBOTIC SENSORS (laser scanners, inertial sensors, robot
bases, ...) which are used everyday in hundreds of research labs around
the world.
The intention is to continue maintaining the package with new algorithms
and sensors as we advance with our PhD theses at our research lab in
Malaga (Spain). Several scientific papers have been already written
using the MRPT programs & libraries (For the list see [1]).
The idea is "mrpt-apps" to become the only package a "final user" should
have to select for installation, so it install the rest of libraries, set
up menu icons for the GUI applications, install the man pages, etc. For
developers, of course, the "libmrpt-dev" provides the headers & cmake
config file.
