Here are some remarks:
 - debian/copyright states GPLv2 or later while source code says GPLv2
 - cleanup debian/watch with the only revelant entry
 - since you are distributing a binary distribution of evilvte, be sure
that the description matches the real options that are compiled
 - since the package has never been in Debian, don't keep the full
changelog. Just keep the more recent one, with only one entry and closing
the ITP.

You could also provide different binary packages:
 - evilvte-light
 - evilvte-standard
 - evilvte-full
