Yes..
I had forgot how painfull it is to build a library without
configure/libtool...
configure/libtool is a pain in the ass for sure, but coming on those subjects
it simply and magicaly handle all those hard stuff alone..
Anyway, do you have a link to the new package, I'll try to have a deeper
review on this..
You may also contact upstream an try to explain them that if they want their
project to be easily portable (think of this mess ported to macosX, sunOS
etc...), they really should consider using a good building system, especially
autoconf which is very well oriented toward portability...
