Venkatesh,I see at http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=names&version=all&exact=1&keywords=xvattr that this package is already in Ubuntu. Have you talked with the Ubuntu maintainer about putting it Debian?
