Any other way to sign a package

Hi All,

How to sign a package ? Is it mandatiory that I use -s or -k option of dpkg-buildpackage like;

$dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -sgpg -k "prasad.kadambi@gmail.com "

Let me know if there is any other way because I hope this signs the package while building the package itself.
