It works fine on every other architecture because the current version of
libapt-front-dev is *built* on every other architecture.  On ia64 it is not,
it fails to build.  So you should talk to the libapt-front maintainer, who
should talk to the porters as needed.

A wedged buildd config: apt was probably put on hold because the new
version was SIGBUSing on sparc, and packagesearch naturally needs the
current version of apt for building, so someone will need to un-hold apt on
mrpurply.  I'll talk to the admins.

Sparc is keeping up quite well, it's just not currently considered a release
candidate for reasons other than buildd power alone.
