Of course no software is bug-free.

My version of lintian (1.23.8) doesn't give any error while checking
lintian_1.23.16_all.deb, so if you have an up-to-date version of lintian it's
very likely the bug is in lintian itself.

Have you tried checking the package with linda instead?
