diff.gz file missing

Hello,

I just created a debian package of cpuinfo and noticed that I do not get a 
diff.gz file. I am wondering why. I did not change anything, except adding 
the debian subdirectory. So I would expect that the diff contains all changes 
in the debian dir, but there is nothing....

Which step/tool is supposed to generate a diff. I renamed the original sources 
to cpuinfo-0.4.1.orig.tar.gz before runing dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot
